SANDRA NOWILLO-KAHN
Hello, my name is Sandra Nowillo-Khan. I was born and raised in Astoria, New York! As a volunteer at the Long Island City YMCA and my local church, I found I had a passion for teaching. I later completed my Associates Degree in Child- Development at LaGuardia Community College and then moved on to my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Social Science at City College of New York. My goals as an educator are to be knowledgeable, reflective, caring, and a leader of diverse communities. I joined Children’s All Day School as an intern in 1998 and soon after became part of the staff. C.A.D.S. has truly encouraged me to take a leadership role in my field of study and helped me foster relationships with the children, parents and staff; this has enriched my experience as a teacher. One of the most important tools as an educator is to serve diverse populations of children and families, and to possess the disposition necessary to promote the learning of all children. I am looking forward to an exciting year with our new group of tots!
JESSICA PEREZ
Hello everyone! My name is Jessica Perez. I have earned an associate degree in early childhood education at Borough of Manhattan Community College and I am continuing my education at City College. Over the past seven years I have worked with different aged children, from five to seventeen. The job that most inspired me to pursue a career in early childhood education was my work with “Americorp”. It opened many doors, allowing me to help my community with such things as after school programs and summer camps. I also enjoyed helping to build a playground. One reason that I enjoy working with young children is they are so fascinated with their surroundings because everything is so new to them; it makes me happy to be a part of that. When I started at C.A.D.S. I was a substitute teacher in the Yellow Room. I then spent four years as an assistant teacher in the Red Room. I’m looking forward continuing as part of the C.A.D.S. family while working in the Tots Room. See you soon!
